Professional Goal
To become the best developer I can be.
About Me
I’m a mostly self-taught Chilean developer with more than 3 years of professional experience in software development. I’ve worked in several parts of the process, from requirements gathering to black-box testing, but most of my experience has been built around design and programming. I’ve also worked as a system administrator. Outside of my professional coding, I maintain the “Coding Obsession” technical blog at http://techblog.julianhidalgo.com/ and am an active contributor to the MbUnit and Gallio open source projects.
I studied civil engineering for 5 years, but I dropped out of college in 2006 when I decided I wanted to be a developer. The career was not very IT oriented, but it included courses about database modeling, C++ programming and data structures for example, that helped me to discover my vocation.
I learn very fast and I’m quite good at solving problems (which I think are crucial abilities for a developer). I’m highly motivated, I love challenges and to learn new things, often by reading books or experimenting. I read blogs and tech books whenever I can. I like to share my knowledge and to learn from others. I tend to be a perfectionist, which can be bad sometimes, but it’s an important quality in my opinion.
